Grouping accused of terrorism faces trial in Azerbaijan

Today, the Court on Grave Crimes of Azerbaijan, chaired by Tamilla Nasrullayeva, has started a trial of a group of persons accused of preparing terror acts in the territory of the country.

Citizens of Azerbaijan Samir Nuriev, Rafail Mugumov, Yashar Gurbanov, Rosa Namazova, Khaver Namazova, Ismail Panakhov, Bella Panakhova and Elbert Gairbiev, head of the "Salam" Society of Chechen Invalids in Baku, face the trial.

According to the investigation, in January of this year the grouping illegally transported from Georgia to Azerbaijan a big batch of firearms, ammunition and explosives.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, the indictment was announced at the today's court session. Then, the floor was given to the defendants. Nuriev, Mugumov, Gurbanov, Panakhov and Gairbiev have partially pled guilty. The women-defendants - Rosa and Khaver Namazov, and Bella Panakhova have stated their innocence. The trial will continued on August 18.
