Kuban activist Melikhova fined for discrediting Russian Army

A court in the city of Armavir has fined Marina Melikhova, a local activist, by 30,000 roubles, finding her guilty under an administrative article about discrediting the Russian Army.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 3, law enforcers drew up a protocol against Melikhova for discrediting the Russian Army. According to her advocate, the reason was in the video in which she declares herself a pacifist, the human rights project "OVD-Info"* reports in its website.

Let us recall that in December 2023, a court in Adler sentenced Marina Melikhova to 1.5 years in penal colony, finding her guilty under a criminal case for discrediting the Russian Army.

Now, Melikhova is kept in the Armavir SIZO (pre-trial prison) awaiting consideration of her appeal, Maria Spasibukhova, her advocate, reported on February 5. According to the advocate, Marina's release date depends on the consideration date of the appeal.

Earlier, Melikhova was convicted of public calls for extremist activities and served more than two years in jail, being released in the summer of 2022.
