  • A militiaman murdered at the South-East of Chechnya

    A corpse of an officer of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Chechnya was found in a foothill district of Shali. The officer's body was found in the trunk of his own car. Government-issue weapon and a certificate of a Ministry of Internal Affairs' officer had been stolen from him.

  • Polish prosecutor's office issues a warrant to detain Ahmed Zakaev

    The prosecutor's office of Poland has issued a warrant to detain Ahmed Zakaev, head of the government of the non-recognized Republic of Ichkeria, should he come to the World Chechen Congress, planned for September 16-18 in a Warsaw suburb. Adalbi Shkhagoshev, Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation and coordinator of the inter-parliamentary group for contacts with the parliament of Poland, believes that this congress may do much harm to Poland.

    Andrei Krasnenkov, who is representing President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov at litigation on slander against Oleg Orlov, head of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", accused Genry Reznik, the latter's advocate of non-professionalism. Otherwise, in Mr Krasnenkov's opinion, Mr Reznik would not have petitioned his challenge. In his turn, Genry Reznik does not believe that Krasnenkov is a professional lawyer and treats his statements as "manifestations of militant ignorance."
