Ministry of Internal Affairs reports detention of a group of people suspected of human traffic in Rostov region

The personnel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the town of Shakhti, Rostov region, have detained some supposed participants of an international organized group dealing with human traffic and the use of slave labor. According to the information from the members of the top brass the group included residents of Rostov region and Abkhazia.

The investigation has found out that the leader of the group had been searching for potential slaves by advertisements in the newspapers of the region towns offering middle-aged men well-paid jobs, generally in building spheres in Krasnodar region and Abkhazia.

One of the members of the group used to bring the "future builders" to Abkhazia where his accessories took their passports, money and belongings away after which the workers were told that from the moment on they would be working for those men without payment because they had been sold to them. During the next several months they were making the newcomers work, beating them up all the time and giving them just very little food.

This July, a prisoner from Rostov region after another bashing broke out, reached the Russian Consulate and reported all that had happened to him. After that agents of Chief Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs at the Southern federal district carried out an inspection and last week they detained some supposed members of the group including its mastermind.

According to "Rosbalt", one of those detained, supposedly leader of the group, has been arrested and is currently kept in Rostov-on-Don investigative isolation ward. He is a native of Krasnodar region, at present resident of the town of Shakhti and had been in federal search for crimes connected with drugs in Kabardino-Balkaria.
