Grozny residents failed to meet President near mosque

Today, on March 27, several dozens of townspeople rallied in Grozny near the central mosque named "Heart of Chechnya" hoping to meet President of Chechnya and give him their petitions. However, Ramzan Kadyrov failed to appear.

Today, the people rallied at the mosque who cannot solve their housing, medical or material problems. They hoped that when President will come for his Friday prayer, they could address him and ask the help.

Such rallies take place near the mosque every Friday. However, usually access there is blocked by securities who stop the petitioners.

Some of those who managed to reach Kadyrov in the first weeks after the opening of the mosque were lucky: someone received money and someone - certain guarantees.

A week ago Ramzan Kadyrov addressed petitioners before TV cameras of the "Grozny" TV Channel as follows: "I tell all present here: I owe nothing to you! Maybe I owe something as a Moslem, but we have the Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Labour and Pension Fund. Let them look and decide!"

This time, among those gathered there were many former refugees, who had lived in tents for years in Ingushetia, then, in hostels in Grozny, then, they were evicted last year by the administration of Grozny, who promised to give then flats in the near future. For more than a year now, people have to hire rooms or huddle with relatives; they see multi-storey houses growing; however, now the refugees are not even promised any flats in these houses.

There were a lot of those who came to complain to President that until now they cannot receive compensations for their ruined houses.

There was a woman in the crowd with her son who blew himself up by a mine in 2000. He was ten then. The state failed to pay any compensation for his mutilation, appoint the pension sufficient for medicines and life, and provide any worthy housing. All these remedies are stipulated by the Russian law on invalids. Chechnya has thousands who became invalids as a result mine-explosive traumas received in their childhood; however, they are all regarded not war invalids but childhood invalids with the respective pension size.
