Dagestan authorities concerned with situation in Karabudakhkent District

The situation in Gubden village and adjoining territories of the Karabudakhkent District of Dagestan causes alarm in the Republic's leaders and MIA, and has negative effect on the operative situation in the region. This was stated by Magomed Gazimagomedov, Deputy Interior Minister of Dagestan on March 24.

We remind you that one of these days a special operation against Abdulgapur Zakaryaev's terrorist grouping was conducted in the Karabudakhkent District.

According to Mr Gazimagomedov, another subversive and terrorist grouping, under command of Magomedali Vagabov, a native of Gubden village, is active in the territory of the District. It has 14 active members; four of them are under federal search.

According to the MIA, starting from 2008, Vagabov's gang committed 24 terrorism-related crimes, and killed 9 and wounded 19 law enforcers; besides, three civilians were killed and five wounded.

Magomed Gazimagomedov said that the majority of Gubden residents "understand the perniciousness of the ideology spread by extremists and cooperate with the law enforcement bodies."

Earlier, Adilgirey Magomedtagirov, Minister of Internal Affairs of Dagestan, said to journalists: "Abdulgapur Zakaryaev, whose bandits were liquidated as a result of a special operation in the Karabudakhkent District of Dagestan, in the past was a successful businessman and had no relations with extremists."

"Zakaryaev had an enterprise in Krasnodar, business ties with Italy and Spain, a house here, the yard full of foreign-made cars. How he happened to be there? Here's his story: His father died. He came to express condolence to the village and got under influence of some person who zombied him and took to the forest. Before that, he wouldn't let his wife to put on a hijab and forced her to go to the beach in a good bathing suit and to have a rest there. He refused to drink vodka, and drank only various French wines," Minister Magomedtagirov said.
