Kadyrov explains his demand for the tempo of musical compositions

The resolution on the tempo of musical works concerns only national Chechen melodies and has no relation to the Russian anthem, compositions of certain genres and music of other nations, the head of Chechnya has explained.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Chechen Minister of Culture had announced that all the musical and dance works in the republic must correspond to the tempo of 80 to 116 beats per minute; otherwise they will not be allowed for public performance.

Ramzan Kadyrov has treated the discussion in media of the new requirements for musical works as "hysterical," and the apogee thereof was in reports that the Russian anthem was banned in Chechnya.

He has explained that this was nothing more than a recommendation "for performers of Chechen melodies in order to preserve musical expressiveness and originality thereof."

In September 2019, Chechen authorities reported that amateur singers Ayub and Askhab Vakharagov were detained for an "educational conversation" because they violated the ban on performing the songs not approved by Chechen authorities.

In March 2024, Akhmat Kadyrov, a son of the head of Chechnya, who is now the Chechen Minister for Youth Matters, ordered to identify those social network users, "whose actions contradict the Chechen culture and mentality."
