Pashinyan isolates himself amid protests near Yerevan Cathedral

In the morning, protesters gathered near a church in Yerevan to prevent Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan from attending the Christmas service. Nikol Pashinyan did not come to the church, and his press secretary explained the Prime Minister's absence by the epidemiological situation.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 6, the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC) celebrates the Epiphany Feast, which unites the Jesus Christ's Nativity and Epiphany. Other Christian Churches celebrate Christmas on December 25/January 7, and Epiphany – on January 6/19.

For the first time, the top-ranking officials of Armenia did not attend the Christmas service at the Saint Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral in Yerevan. Armenian President Armen Sarkisyan, infected with the coronavirus, is in self-isolation in London, the "Sputnik Armenia" reports today.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan did not attend the Christmas service because of his self-isolation, reported Mane Gevorgyan, the press secretary for the Prime Minister. "Due to the epidemiological situation, the Prime Minister is on self-isolation," the press secretary reported.

Starting from the early morning, people were gathering in front of the church building to prevent Nikol Pashinyan from entering the church, the "Voice of Armenia" reports today. According to a photo posted today by the "Yerevan Today", in the morning, a group of several dozen people gathered at the entrance to the church.

Let us remind you that starting from December 22, 2020, Yerevan hosts protests with the demand of the Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's resignation.
