Murtazali Gasanguseinov demands to stop red tape in his sons' murder case

The procedural red tape makes it difficult to appeal against the refusals to prosecute the law enforcer, who had reported the results of the special operation in which the Gasanguseinov brothers were killed, their father stated at his picket in Makhachkala.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that that Gasanguseinov father and Djambulat Gasanov, an activist, after their pickets in November 2019, achieved that the head of the police department for the Shamil District, who had reported the murder of the brothers as two militants, received a disciplinary reprimand for his error. However, Gasanov and Gasanguseinov are sure that his involvement in the brothers' case was not just official negligence; therefore, they achieved a new check. In March, Gasanguseinov resumed his protest actions in Makhachkala demanding to investigate his sons' murder.

Nabi, 17, and Gasangusein, 19, Gasanguseinov were killed on August 23, 2016, during an operation in the Shamil District of Dagestan. Law enforcers declared them to be militants, but their fellow villagers wouldn't agree with this.

On July 20, Murtazali Gasanguseinov went out to a solo picket in protest against the red tape in his sons' murder case.

The picket lasted for an hour; Djambulat Gasanov, the Gasanguseinov's legal representative, was also present at the venue, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has reported from the place.

According to Gasanov, investigators refuse to open a criminal case against a high-ranking law enforcer, whom the Gasanguseinovs consider involved in their sons' death.

"The Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) refuses to initiate a case based on the results of a pre-investigation check; the prosecutor's office cancels these refusals," Mr Gasanov has stated.

In his opinion, law enforcement bodies are trying to protract, as much as possible, the investigation of the case by procedural means.
