Gadjiev's relatives deprived of right to visit him in SIZO

Five persons have continued their solo pickets in Makhachkala in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, an arrested journalist of the "Chernovik" (Draft) weekly and portal. For more than a month, the new investigator running Gadjiev's case is banning his family members to visit him, the journalist's relative have complained.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that series of solo pickets demanding to stop Abdulmumin Gadjiev's criminal prosecution are held every week by activists in Makhachkala.

Since June 2019, Abdulmumin Gadjiev, the editor of the religion section of the Dagestani weekly and website "Chernovik" (Draft), has been under arrest under the case of financing terrorism. He refuses to plead guilty.

On February 3, Abdulmumin Gadjiev's colleagues and friends again held a series of solo pickets at the complex of buildings of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and Dagestani branch of the FSB in central Makhachkala. Reporters of republic's and federal editions were present at the venue – in total, there were 15 people at the venue; and five persons held the pickets.

Bypassing motorists expressed their support to picketers by long beeps, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has reported from the venue.

Meanwhile, Abdulmumin Gadjiev's relatives cannot visit him at the SIZO (pre-trial prison), one of the relatives told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent on condition of anonymity. According to his story, the last visit was in December 2019.

He said that in early January, Gadjiev's case was handed over to another investigator. "Before that, we had no problems with visiting him. Investigator Televov sanctioned the visits, but now we've got problems," said the relative.
