Five persons detained after assassination attempt on Tsotne Gamsakhurdiya

On December 20, the police detained a suspect of attacking Tsotne Gamsakhurdiya, a son of the country's first president, and four other persons, who failed to report about the prepared crime.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Tsotne Gamsakhurdiya was hospitalized on December 19 after an assassination attempt on him committed in central Tbilisi. The police have opened a case on an attempted murder.

The person detained on suspicion of an attempted murder of Tsotne Gamsakhurdiya faces up to 15 years in prison. The rest four detainees, suspected of non-reporting about the crime are facing up to seven years in prison, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has translated the message posted late on December 20 on the website of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

According to investigators, the suspect attacked Gamsakhurdiya after the latter had insulted him.
