Three persons shot dead on Azerbaijani-Iranian border

Azerbaijani border guards have killed three persons, who gad tried to illegally cross the border and opened fire in response to a demand to stop, the country's State Frontier Service (SFS) has reported.

The incident occurred last night near the village of Amirzeitli, 300 kilometres off Baku.

The infringers failed to obey even after a warning shot, and opened fire on the border guards, the Azerbaijani SFS reports.

The border guards, following the law "On State Border", began shooting to kill. All the three border infringers died on the spot from received wounds; drugs and ammunition were found on them.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" wrote about armed incidents on the Azerbaijani-Iranian border. Thus, on March 12, one of six border infringers was killed in a shootout near the Azerbaijani village of Ostair.
