Nagorno-Karabakh MoD explains soldier's death by unknown circumstances

The body of Agasi Mkrtchyan with a gunshot wound is found in the territory of a military unit, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for Nagorno-Karabakh reports today.

"At about 8:10 p.m. (local time) on September 26, at the defensive point of a military unit located in the northern direction, Agasi Derenikovich Mkrtchyan, a soldier of the Defence Army, born in 1999, got a fatal gunshot wound under the circumstances still not investigated," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed today at the press service for the Nagorno-Karabakh MoD.

The Nagorno-Karabakh MoD notes "an investigation is underway to determine the details of the incident."

According to the Caspian Defence Studies Institute (CDSI), in the period from January to June 2018, in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, the number of non-combat deaths reached 19. In particular, seven soldiers were killed as a result of accidents, two were killed by their fellow soldiers, two died from deceases, one died because of violation of security rules, and three died from other reasons.
