On August 27-September 2, three people fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

One person was killed and two more were wounded in the course of the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus during the week from August 27 to September 2, 2018. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The casualty is an alleged member of an armed underground in Dagestan.

On August 29, in the village of Toturbijkala, Khasavyurt District of Dagestan, policemen asked a suspicious man in a car to show his documents; however, he took a firearm, opened fire and then disappeared. Two policemen were wounded.

On September 1, a shootout occurred in the Khasavyurt district, between the villages of Endirey and Toturbijkala. When offered to lay down his arms, an alleged gunman opened fire and was killed by return fire. He was identified as Abas Khubaev, a native of the village of Endirey, the leader of a local grouping of militants. According to preliminary data, he was involved in shelling policemen at night on August 29.

On August 23-25, in Shali and Shali District of Chechnya, a wave of detention of teenagers took place. Law enforcers travelled along streets and took away all those who were familiar, studied together or lived in the vicinity of the participants in the attacks on policemen on August 20, committed in the Shali District and in Grozny. The detainees were interrogated until night.

According to a local resident, law enforcers wanted to know who could be familiar with the killed attackers, and what the teens' attitude was to the attacks. Some 150-200 youngsters were detained. The authorities treated interrogations of them as preventive conversations with the aim to find instigators and the teens, who could "get under the influence of destructive ideas."

On September 1, a large group of armed people, without explaining the reasons, forced away Azamat Baiduev, who had been deported from Poland, from his uncle's house in the village of Shalazhi in the Urus-Martan District. Before his move to Europe, Baiduev, who had six children, was persecuted and tortured in Russia.
