Court leaves Magomedov brothers and their assets under arrest

On August 1, the Tver Court of Moscow extended the arrests of Dagestani entrepreneurs Ziyavudin and Magomed Magomedov. On the same day, the Moscow City Court found lawful the arrests of all assets in the Magomedov brothers' case.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Magomed Magomedov, the former senator from the Smolensk Region, and his brother Ziyavudin Magomedov are charged with fraud and organization of a criminal grouping to steal budget funds for the amount of 2.5 billion roubles. Investigators requested the court to leave the Magomedov brothers in custody until November 5.

"The request of the investigating authorities is justified and is to be granted. The court decided to extend the term of detention in custody for (Ziyavudin) Magomedov until November 5, 2018," announced the judge as quoted by the "Interfax" on August 1.

According to the court's decision, the arrest was extended for the same time for Magomed Magomedov, a brother of Ziyavudin Magomedov, and for Arthur Maxidov, the former director of the "Intex" Company, a subsidiary of the "Summa Group".

Ziyavudin Magomedov and his brother Magomed Magomedov asked the court to release them for house arrest, the TASS reported on August 1. According to Ziyavudin Magomedov, the company and he in person have repeatedly complained to the law enforcement bodies about theft of his money. "And now we are behind bars on those subjects," Ziyavudin Magomedov has noted.

Arthur Maxidov has also refused to plead guilty.
