On July 16-22, 2018, three persons fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week of July 16-22, 2018, two persons were killed and another was wounded in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

Both killed men were policemen in Dagestan.

Attacks on law enforcers

On July 20, in the Kizilyurt District of Dagestan, a car of the road-and-patrol service (known as DPS) was shelled on the highway "Caucasus". Three DPS inspectors were in the service car. Two of them were killed, and the third one was wounded. The responsibility for the attack was claimed by the "Islamic State" (a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, – note of the "Caucasian Knot"). According to the law enforcement bodies, the attack was committed by members of the "Khasavyurt" grouping of militants. A source reported that the attackers were involved in the bombing at the grave of Sheikh Said Afandi of Chirkei.

Detentions

On July 10, Magomed-Emin Arsamirzaev, a 24-year-old resident of the Novye Atagi village in the Shali District of Chechnya, was detained without explanations and charges. According to relatives, the man had no problems with the law. "So far, we have just learned that he communicated with someone on the Internet and law enforcers found him through that person," said a relative of the young man. The detainee's whereabouts is unknown.

On July 12, six persons were detained in the Borozdinovskaya village in Chechnya. On July 21, the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported that local resident Kurban Kurbanaliev tried to recruit a young woman for a terrorist organization and persuade her to leave for Syria to join the ranks of militants. A criminal case on failure to report of the crime was instituted against two friends of Kurban Kurbanaliev. The young woman, whom Kurban Kurbanaliev tried to recruit, is also under the investigation. No criminal proceedings were instituted against other three detained friends of the men.
