Conflict in Volgodonsk lyceum triggers debates in social networks

The incident in Volgodonsk lyceum No. 16 was reported by pupils' parents, who learned about it from their children. According to their version, during her lesson a female mathematics teacher chastised a girl, who had her hair non-braided, and cut off a strand of girl's hair.

Indignant parents have collectively complained about the teacher to the Ministry of Education of the Rostov Region, after which the teacher wrote a resignation application.

The behaviour of the teacher of the Volgodonsk lyceum caused lively discussions in social networks. The debaters expressed polar opinions about the situation, but most of them criticized the teacher's pedagogical methods; and some called for her severe punishment.

"She should be placed in jail. How could they admit an inadequate person to teaching? I understand that children are also not angels, but still she's an educator," wrote Mikhail Mikhailov.

"Well, it would be worthwhile to submit an application to the police; however, in general, let's not judge about this situation only from the story of the victim. Children may make anyone white-hot angry," Alexander Boiko has suggested.

The assumptions that the schoolgirl could provoke the teacher with her impudent behaviour were not treated as an excuse for what the teacher has done by many debaters. "No matter how a child may irritate the teacher, the latter has no right to resort to manhandling. She is a teacher and should know how to cope with children," Darina has objected.
