In Georgia, Turkish lecturer denies accusations of aiding and abetting terrorism

At a hearing held on November 20 at the Tbilisi City Court, Turkish citizen Mustafa Emre Çabuk, accused at home of aiding and abetting terrorism, pleaded not guilty and called on the Court to grant him refugee status.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 24, Turkish lecturer Mustafa Emre Çabuk was detained in the Georgian capital at the request of Turkey. On May 26, the court sentenced him to three months of arrest with further extradition. Mustafa Emre Çabuk has been working in Georgia since 2002, and in recent years, he worked as a manager at the Tbilisi Private Demirel College. After his detention, Mustafa Emre Çabuk has applied for refugee status, but was refused, and he challenged the refusal.

In Turkey, Mustafa Çabuk was accused of having links with the FETO, an organization of supporters of the preacher Fethullah Gulen. Mustafa himself has refused to plead guilty.

In the course of a hearing held on November 20 in the Tbilisi City Court, Mustafa Emre Çabuk denied his connection with terrorists and once again asked to grant him refugee status.

"I never carried weapons in Georgia or Turkey. Unfortunately, I have been wrongly charged in Turkey that I am allegedly a member of a terrorist organization. I had no contacts with terrorist organizations in Georgia or Turkey. In general, I am not acquainted with Fethullah Gülen, I have never met him," stated Mustafa Emre Çabuk as quoted by the "Georgia-Online".
