Anzor Arslanuk's defence treats decision to deport him to Syria as absurd

The Adler District Court made an absurd decision to deport Anzor Arslanuk, a Russian citizen, to Syria, Oksana Trenbach, his advocate, has stated. Arslanuk has dual citizenship, his mother Tamara Stas has noted.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the above Tamara Stas, a resident of Syria, appealed to Russian President asking him to prevent the deportation of Anzor Arslanuk, who had studied for six years at the Adyg State University. According to her story, because of student visa expiration, her son is sent to the deportation centre, located in the town of Gulkevichi, Krasnodar Territory.

Today, the Territorial Court has ruled to postpone the consideration of the appeal until June 5, and wait for the defence to provide proofs that Arslanuk has Russian citizenship.

"The uniqueness of the case is that the Russian court has ruled to deport a Russian citizen from Russia," said the advocate.

Oksana Trenbach has explained that the migration division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Adygea demanded from Arslanuk "to leave the territory of the Russian Federation within a month, but failed to issue a transit visa to him."

Anzor Arslanuk arrived in Russia within an education quota of the Adyg State University, said Asker Sokht, deputy chairman of the public organization "Adyge Khase" of the Krasnodar Territory.

"His mother, Tamara Stas, is a former USSR citizen, who married a Syrian; she received Russian citizenship in 1994, together with her then minor children," he said.

Olga Efendieva-Begret, a co-founder of the "Ochag" (Hearth) Foundation for Helping Compatriots, said that they are raising money to support Arslanuk.
