Participants of rally in KChR urge authorities to avoid bankruptcy of breeding farm

The authorities should help to stop the bankruptcy procedure of Osman Kasaev Breeding Farm, which employs residents of three remote auls (villages) of the Karachay District, and deal with the non-transparent schemes of allocation of the land plots of the farm. This was stated on February 10 by participants of the rally.

About 40 residents of the villages of Uchkulan, Khurzuk and Kart-Djurt of the Karachay District of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR) came to the rally, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports. They told that they have to live in harsh economic conditions.

"We are cut off from the whole world; only Karachaevsk is 60 km away. Young people have no work here. Timber stockpiling is nearing its end; there is no land," said Magomed Tekeev, a resident of Uchkulan, adding that almost all the lands of the farm had been transferred by its former bosses to the KChR’s Ministry of Land and Property Relations and the Karachay District Administration.

Another villager said that because of the isolation of auls from cities, people cannot go to work in Karachaevsk, the capital of the republic.

Earlier, the breeding farm was a state farm, and then became the “Osman Kasaev Breeding Farm” State Unitary Enterprise, said Zamir Borlakov, the interim manager of the farm. According to his story, out of the 118,000 hectares earlier owned by the farm, only 7000 remain now.

Now, the breeding farm has about 120 million roubles of debt.
