Residents of Gumrak dissatisfied with road reconstruction project
Residents of the settlement of Gumrak, Volgograd Region, have stated that their remarks were disregarded in the new version of reconstruction of Lenin Street. The designer said that the current version is not final and can be changed.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in December 2016 residents of Gumrak complained that the reconstruction of Aviatorov Highway, passing through the settlement, is conducted with violation of standards and without the consent of the population. Residents are angry that in front of their houses there were no green spaces, but huge noise-suppressing boards. Besides, in the course of the road reconstruction, its surface dipped so low that cliffs formed in front of entries to residential yards.
On January 16, the designer's spokesman met local residents. At the end of the meeting it was decided that the designer should amend the terms of reconstruction.
The next meeting of Gumrak residents with representatives of the designer, contractor and developer was held on January 26 in the settlement, said Alexei Ulyanov, the chairman of the public independent inspection.
According to his version, small changes were made in the project – they made internal passages along the houses; however, there is no landscaping area.
The large-scale road reconstruction is underway in the Volgograd Region in connection with the preparations for the FIFA World Cup-2018. NGO activists expressed their dissatisfaction with the quality of repairs.
