Residents of Pankisi Gorge confirm death of Mukhamad Khangoshvili

Ramaz Bagakashvili, a deputy of the Akhmet Sakrebulo from the Duisi municipal district of Georgia, has confirmed the death in Iraq of Mukhamad Khangoshvili, a native of the village of Duisi, well known as the personal bodyguard of earlier killed Tarkhan Batirashvili (Abu Umar al-Shishani).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 7, a source in the Pankisi Gorge reported about the death of Mukhamad Khangoshvili, killed in the Iraqi city of Mosul.

Tarkhan Batirashvili, born in 1986, was one of the most powerful militants involved in the hostilities in the Middle East.

"His family members strongly opposed his leaving for Syria. However, the young man went to Turkey and from there to Syria to fight on the side of the 'Islamic State' (IS, a terrorist organization, banned in Russia)," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Ramaz Bagakashvili.

According to him, there are several other children in the Khangoshvili family. Ramaz Bagakashvili has noted that the authorities are engaged in activities to detect and prevent attempts to recruit militants among residents of the Pankisi Gorge.

In 2014, Mukhamad Khangoshvili left to fight on the side of the IS, and he was killed at the age of 24 years, added Ramaz Bagakashvili.

At present, in Syria and Iraq, up to 50 residents of the Pankisi Gorge are involved in the hostilities on the side of the terrorists, the Radio Station "Way" reports.
