In case of Murat Borlakov's death, public prosecutor asks to sentence defendants to 10-15 years of imprisonment

In the case of the death of detainee Murat Borlakov at the police station, public prosecutor has asked the court to find five defendants guilty and sentence them to 10-15 years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony. The trial is postponed until September 22.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 21, the court completed the stage of judicial investigation and started pleadings.

On February 3, 2014, Murat Borlakov, a resident of Karachay-Cherkessia, died at the Ust-Djeguta ROVD (District Interior Division) an hour after his arrest. According to the testimonies of the people detained together with Murat Borlakov, he was subjected to torture.

Today, public prosecutor Azret Djabarov has asked the court to sentence Murat Karaketov, the former chief of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ust-Djeguta ROVD, to 15 years of imprisonment in a high-security colony, and Kazbek Batchaev and Askhat Laipanov, the former police officers, to 12 years of imprisonment. Besides, the public prosecutor has asked 10 years of imprisonment for Rasul Mamchuev, the former chief of the Ust-Djeguta ROVD, and Taulan Aibazov, the former police officer.

Soltan Borlakov, the father of deceased Murat Borlakov, and Pavel Misharin, the advocate of the victims, have fully supported the arguments of the public prosecutor.
