Kadyrov registered as candidate at election of head of Chechnya
The Chechen Central Election Commission (CEC) has registered the acting head of the republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, as a candidate for the forthcoming on September 18 election of the head of Chechnya.
Four candidates claim the top post of Chechnya: Ramzan Kadyrov; Idris Usmanov, the commissioner for protection of entrepreneurs' rights; Sultan Denilkhanov, the head of the regional branch of "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" (Fair Russia) Party; and Gairsolt Bataev, the Chairman of the Republic's Public Chamber.
"At its sitting, the CEC has unanimously adopted the decision to register the acting head of the republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, as a candidate for the election as the head of Chechnya," the RIA "Novosti" quotes Umar Baikhanov, the Chairman of the Chechen CEC.
