Chairman of Chechen Public Chamber nominated for position of Chechen leader
Gairsolt Bataev, Chairman of the Public Chamber of the Chechen Republic, has been officially nominated as a candidate for the position of the leader of Chechnya.
"On July 4, the Commission received the documents for nomination of Gairsolt Bataev, Chairman of the Public Chamber of the Chechen Republic, as a candidate for the position of the leader of Chechnya. Gairsolt Bataev is nominated by the regional office of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF)," reports the Election Commission of Chechnya.
Gairsolt Bataev has become the fourth candidate for the position of the leader of Chechnya, following Ramzan Kadyrov, Idris Usmanov, and Sultan Denilkhanov.
Meanwhile, local observers believe that at present, there is no real alternative to Ramzan Kadyrov as the leader of the republic.
"At present, Ramzan Kadyrov faces no real rivals, who could compete for power. I mean the other three candidates registered by our Election Commission. All of them are functionaries and officials of middle class, and they did not do anything special. You should not be a great expert and a specialist in the field of elections to understand who will be the next leader of the republic: of course, it will be Ramzan Kadyrov," says a leader of one of the local NGOs, who preferred to remain anonymous.
