150 residents of Volgograd speak in support of political prisoners

Today, in Volgograd, activists have held a rally and a march in memory and defence of the victims of political repression, as well as against toughening of the police regime.

The rally was sanctioned by the administration for up to 300 participants. However, it was attended by 150 people. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Galina Shipilova, an organizer of the rally. The rally was also attended by members of the "RPR-Parnas" Party, the "Yabloko" Party, the "Rodina" (Motherland) Party, associations of deceived depositors of the "Savings Bank", and Russian nationalists.

"We are holding this action to draw public attention to the fact that there are political prisoners in our country, and there are a lot of them. People are imprisoned for their thoughts, for their words, for their publications on the Internet," Galina Shipilova stated.

The participants of the rally marched along the lower terrace of the embankment to the monument to victims of political repression. In their hands, the marchers were holding lit candles.
