Court in Grozny bans article on Islam on Lurkmore
Based on the judgement of the Leninsky District Court of Grozny, the "Roskomnadzor" (Federal Service for Supervising Communications, Information Technologies and Mass Media) has put the page, containing the article "Islam", of the Internet-based encyclopaedia Lurkmore, into the register of banned websites, said Dmitri Khomak, the project founder.
In the content of the article about Islam, the court found the information, insulting the religious feelings of Muslims, says the letter of the "Roskomnadzor". The judgement was handed down on February 29.
The "Roskomnadzor" demands to delete the material, otherwise the access to the page will be restricted. However, the website owners are not going to remove the article, Mr Khomak wrote on the Facebook.
According to his version, earlier, the same Leninsky District Court of Grozny had banned the article of the above encyclopaedia about caricatures on Prophet Muhammad. Dmitri Khomak believes that the territory of Chechnya is under the oral order to ban the Lurkmore altogether.
The Lurkmore treats itself as an encyclopaedia of contemporary culture, folklore and subcultures. Its articles are created by authors, like in the "Wikipedia" website; they are written with the active use of the Internet jargon. The website operates since 2007.
At this point, the unified register of banned websites contains 30 pages of the Lurkmore encyclopaedia.
