"Kommersant": Aslan Gagiev released on bail in Vienna

The Court of Vienna has released on bail in the amount of 100,000 euros Aslan Gagiev, a native of North Ossetia, suspected in Russia of organizing a series of resonant murders.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 17, 2015, Aslan Gagiev was detained in Vienna with a fake Bulgarian passport. The court of first instance pronounced the decision to extradite Aslan Gagiev to Russia; however, the Supreme Court of Vienna sent the decision for reconsideration. On August 19, the Land Court of Vienna pronounced the repeated decision on the possibility of extradition of Aslan Gagiev to Russia. On January 29, it became known that the Land Court of Vienna granted the request of the General Prosecutor's Office of Bulgaria on extradition of Aslan Gagiev. In Bulgaria, he is accused of forgery in absentia.

Investigators believe that a grouping led by Aslan Gagiev committed about 40 murders in North Ossetia, Moscow and the Moscow Region.

According to the decision of the Land Court of Vienna, Aslan Gagiev was released from the prison "Josefstadt". He was ordered not to leave the capital of Austria and to come to court and the Prosecutor's Office at the first request.
