In France, MPs ask Constitutional Board to repeal genocide denial law

More than 70 senators and 50 members of the lower house of the French Parliament have addressed their petition to the French Constitutional Board asking to cancel the recently adopted law on criminalization of genocide denial.

Senators have collected 70 signatures instead of required 60, the PanARMENIAN.Net reports referring to the TV channel TRT Haber.

The consideration of the petition will take a month; then, the Board will decide whether the law on genocide meets the constitution, the "Interfax" reports.

Let us remind you that on January 18 the Constitutional Commission of the French Senate rejected the draft law on criminalization of denial of Armenian genocide, finding its text unacceptable.
