In Armenia, court session on case of contract officer's death postponed for indefinite time

Court session on the case of the death of Artak Nazaryan, the officer who served under the contract at the Armed Forces of Armenia, was interrupted because of sharp deterioration of health of his mother Asmik Ovanisyan, who was to testify.

The process is postponed for indefinite period of time. In accordance with the schedule specified by the court, at first, representatives of the aggrieved party should testify and then – witnesses and defendants.

Let us remind you that Senior Lieutenant Artak Nazaryan, the commander of the motorized rifle platoon on combat duty, located near the village of Chinari of the Tavush Region of Armenia, perished on duty in the morning of July 27, 2010. According to the version of the Investigatory Service of the Ministry of Defence of Armenia, the officer was incited to suicide and shot himself dead with a service weapon.

Meanwhile, relatives of the deceased officer are confident that the preliminary investigation had been conducted with gross violations of the law and had been an attempt to cover up the true cause of the officer's death.
