A militiaman in Rostov-on-Don sentenced to four years of imprisonment for beating up a detained person

A district court in Rostov-on-Don brought in a verdict of guilty to a former militiaman Yaroslav Umrikhin for illegal detention and beating up a local resident. 

The crime was committed on May, 4, 2009. The investigation established that on that day the militiaman of the Department of Interior Affairs of Pervomaisky district, Rostov-on-Don, detained a citizen. On finding out that he had no identity documents with him he put the handcuffs on him.  

Then the militiaman started beating up the detained. After that he set a Government-issue gun against his head, put him in his service car and delivered him to the militia department, "Interfax-Yug" reports. 

Umrikhin was acknowledged guilty of abuse of authority and sentenced to four years of imprisonment in a general regime colony.

    The Supreme Court (SC) of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) has begun considering the lawsuit lodged by Murat Khokonov, Professor of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University (KBSU), concerning his illegal dismissal. The SC has demanded from KBSU bosses the documents confirming the legality of professor's dismissal.
