Kabardino-Balkaria: all supposed militants, liquidated in special operation, identified

According to preliminary data, Nadezhda Petruchenya and Anatoly Ozrokov have been identified among the suspected militants, killed today in a special operation in Nalchik.

Earlier, Astemir Mamishev, who had been on the federal wanted list, and Ruslan Fedyanovich, suspected of committing five especially dangerous crimes, were identified among the four casualties.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the special operation took place in the micro-district "Gorny" (Mountainous), where the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime was introduced. The active phase of the CTO started around 7:30 a.m. Before the operation, all the tenants of the apartment block were evacuated. There were no victims among law enforcers or local residents.

"The proposal to surrender was answered by automatic fire opened by the militants. In the course of operative and combat actions the bandits were neutralized," the Operative Headquarters (OHQ) of the CTO has reported.

According to the OHQ, Mamishev had been on the federal search list for committing more than 12 grave and especially grave terror crimes in the territory of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), which had caused great public resonance, including the murders of the Mufti of the KBR Anas Pshikhachev, Commercial Director of the Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) "Kanatnye Dorogi" (Ropeways) Yusup Taukenov, law enforcers and civilians; explosions of cars and triggering of explosive devices.

The OHQ has reported that the apartment, which had been hired by the suspected militants, contained a laboratory for production of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
