Over 2000 young men and girls in Adygeia took part in the action "St. George ribbon"

On May, 9, a civil action "St. George ribbon" in Adygeia which had been going on since April, 26, within the framework of realization of republican target program "Youth of Adygeia" planned for 2009-2011 was accomplished, the Republican Committee of Youth Affairs reported. 

"Traditionally, all the municipalities of Adygeia joined the action, Tatiana Samonina, Deputy Chairperson of the Committee of Youth Affairs of RA, said. - All the 70 thousand St. George ribbons were distributed at festive actions, lessons of courage at schools, in the streets of the town and enterprises". 

Volunteers of the republic and activists of regional branch of "Young Guard of United Russia" helped in distribution of the ribbons. About 30 "young guards" in Maikop were distributing the ribbons among passers-by near the central market of the town and asking them about the symbolics of St. George ribbon. 

"We remember our grandfathers' and great grandfathers' heroic deed and by means of this action we not only wish to honour their memory and manifest our respect to them but also to express our attitude towards the Great Victory", Ruslan Gidzev, member of regional headquarters of "Young Guard", said. 

Not only the veterans received St. George ribbons but schoolchildren of Adygeia, too. "Actions like this help maintaining memory of the Great Victory in the hearts of young people", Tatiana Samonina emphasized. 

"It is fashionable to be a patriot nowadays and this encourages, at least in our students' group the absence of St. George ribbon on one's clothes is considered tasteless", Ruslan Guliaichenko, student of Adygei State University, declared.
