Gasymov: the results of Jabbar Savalan's drug examination are "discrepant"

The results of drug examination of blood samples taken a month ago from Jabbar Savalan, youth activist of People's Front of Azerbaijan party (PFAP), have been made public in Azerbaijan.

Anar Gasymov, the activist's attorney, told a reporter of "Caucasian Knot" that on March, 9, he and another attorney, Asabali Mustafaev, visited Savalan in the investigative isolation ward. According to Gasymov, Salavan had no complaints about the state of his health or custody conditions.

Jabbar Savalan was detained on February, 5. According to the police, 0,17 gram of opium were confiscated from him.

According to the attorney, the physicians of the Republican narcological dispensary found no "physical or psychological drug addiction" with Savalan. They arrived at the conclusion that he "did not need compulsory treatment". At the same time, according to Gasymov, the experts "did not rule out that Jabbar Savalan took drugs".

The attorney estimated this expert opinion as a discrepant one which might be used against Savalan".

He also submitted a new application to the investigation to summon the physicians who have done the expertise to trial as witnesses and take Savalan's blood tests for an alternative expertise in the attorneys' presence.

However, it turned out impossible to get any comments from Sumgait police department which is carrying out the investigation. Officials of the police department advised to appeal to Press service of the Ministry of Interior Affairs where the attorneys were told that there was no information on the matter there.
