Relatives of suspect of Stavropol massacre state that he is beaten

The Investigatory Committee and the Prosecutor's Office of the Stavropol Territory are checking the actions of the inspectors, which were appealed against by advocates and relatives of Roman Gubarev, suspected of murdering eight persons in Stavropol.

Gubarev figures in the case of a murder of eight persons, committed on January 21 in Stavropol. Vladimir Slizaev, the owner of the household, and members of his family were assassinated. An eight-years-old boy and a newborn girl were the only survivors. Gubarev was Slizaev's driver.

"We have a procedure that assumes check of all the messages or complaints about inspectors or militiamen. At present, the investigatory committee deals with these statements; I don't know what conclusions they'll do," the "Interfax" quotes Alexander Gorovoy, head of the GUVD (Chief Interior Department) for the Stavropol Territory.

Mr Gorovoy has also noted that the check of the militiamen's actions, protested against by the suspect's relatives and advocates, is held under the strict control of the investigatory bodies of the ICRF (Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation) for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD), the STRC (State TV and Radio Company) "Stavropolye" reports.
