"Mr Babchenko tells us how soldiers live in Russian Army. Young guys aged 18 were went to the war, where old-timers subjected them to everyday beatings, while the warfare traumatized their psycho for the rest of the life," the Finnish portal named "Finrosforum" wrote about the book.

Arkady Babchenko was born in 1977 in Moscow; in 1996, when on regular army service, he got to the first Chechen war. Later, already as a contract soldier, he was sent to the second Chechen campaign.
