Festival of Russian films opens in Tbilisi

The Georgian capital is hosting a festival of contemporary Russian-language movies. The event, which was brought to Georgia by famous film director Eldar Ryazanov, comprises about 30 feature films, documentaries and cartoons.

The festival of Russian films includes "Anna Karenina" by Sergey Solovyov, "Playing the Victim" by Kirill Serebrennikov, "Buntings" by Alexei Fedorchenko, "One War" by Vera Glagoleva, "The Return" by Andrei Zvyagintsev, "Morphine" by Alexei Balabanov, "Miracle" by Alexander Proshkin and best Russian recent cartoons.

Films staged by directors from other CIS member-countries will also be screened: "Melody for Hurdy-Gurdy" by Kira Muratova (Ukraine), "Meteoidiot" by Nana Dzhordzhadze (Georgia-Germany-Netherlands-Russia), "National Bomb" by Vagif Mustafaev (Azerbaijan), "Gift to Stalin" by Rustem Abdrashev (Kazakhstan) and "Birds of Paradise" (Ukraine) by Roman Balayan, the IA "News-Georgia" reports.

The festival will last for four days.
