Funds are not enough to erect in Moscow prototype of Memorial of Glory demolished in Kutaisi

Erection of a monument in Moscow instead of the Memorial of Glory blown up in Kutaisi may face certain difficulties. As of July 12, 7 million roubles were raised for the purpose, which is, as noted by Valery Vinogradov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow, obviously not enough. It is planned to start construction already in the end of July and to open the memorial on December 19 - one year after the monument was blown up in Kutaisi, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Let us remind you that on July 12 the contest for the best project were summed up in Moscow. The conventional name of the winner is "Hoisting a banner over Reichstag". The open contest was held from April 5 to May 25; over 30 creative organizations and sculptors presented 25 projects.

The winner was defined by voting held mainly in the Internet - out of 6700 respondents only 1500 made it directly in the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War in the Poklonnaya Mount.

The author of the project-winner, as well as of two other projects with higher points, was a group headed by Merited Artist of Russia Salavat Scherbakov and People's Artist of Russia Andrei Kovalchuk, the "Rossiiskaya Gazeta" writes.
