Akhilgov: all applications addressed to President of Ingushetia will be checked

Even if an application of a resident of Ingushetia was not directly sent to the president, but just appeared on the Internet, the republic's leader will automatically appoint a check of the facts and take actions, Kaloy Akhilgov, press secretary of Ingush President, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"It doesn't matter whether an application addressed to the president is sent directly to the government or just posted in open access on the Internet - a thorough check will be made all the same; in the first place, for the authenticity of narrated facts. You know how it sometimes happens here: the story is not always true," he said.

"In case the facts stated in an application are confirmed, the republic's leader will immediately appoint his own check; irrespective of any other applications lodged to any other law enforcement bodies," Mr Akhilgov said.

"Now we begin the work with the aim to disseminate information that President of Ingushetia is always ready to take citizens' complaints; he personally looks through applications, answers them and instructs on the measures to be taken on citizens' complaints," explained the press service of the republic's government.

"Today, there are several options for citizens of Ingushetia to address their president: firstly, through the government's website - it has a link 'Address the President'. All such appeals are personally read and answered by Yunus-Bek Evkurov. Secondly, the president has his blog, where citizens can send their appeals and complaints," said the service.

"Besides, there's a dedicated telephone line for appeals - 50-00-00. President of Ingushetia starts every morning with reading the printout of calls made to this phone number during the past 24 hours. And - of course - there are written applications of citizens, which are also personally reviewed by Mr Evkurov," told the press service of the government of the Republic of Ingushetia.

According to the press service, "close attention is also paid to publications in the media." Thus, the source said, press service workers read the website of the "Caucasian Knot" every day and check the facts presented there.

At the same time, the Ingush oppositionist Magomed Khazbiev believes that "in certain cases, such as attacks on human rights defenders and journalists, the authorities of the republic, even having information and victims' applications in hand, take no actions."
