In Karachai-Circassia, car kills "Caucasian Knot" correspondent

On July 25, at about 9 in the evening, near her house in Cherkessk, Bella Ksalova, 26, own correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot", was knocked down by a car. The young woman died; now the details of the incident are investigated.

The collective of the "Caucasian Knot" is mourning and deeply condoles with Bella's relatives and friends.

Materials prepared by Bella Ksalova were notable for their acuteness and criticism, which quite often caused sharp discontent of local authorities. For a long time the correspondent and her relatives were under pressure; Bella's father was beaten.

She wrote about problems with the freedom of speech in Karachai-Circassia and covered the extraordinary congresses of Circassian people, where the republic's leadership was criticized.

Bella also managed to prepare a number of video reports dealing with various aspects of people's life in the republic; among them - a zesty report about the memorial rally of doctor Alamat Kecherukov, which grew into an agitation campaign of President Ebzeyev, video reports on the Circassian issue, about the dangerous vicinity of the TB dispensary in Cherkessk to social objects, problems of tenants of city hostels and many others.

Bella's last materials published by the "Caucasian Knot" were on creative trends in her republic, revival of Circassian culture and national traditions, and of the Abazin language.
