In Georgia, imprisoned Tsotne Gamsakhurdia goes on hunger strike

On May 3, Tsotne Gamsakhurdia, son of the ex-President of Georgia, who is in custody in Tbilisi, announced his termless hunger strike in prison hospital as a protest against the actions of the prison administration.

As reported by the press centre of the oppositional political association "Roundtable", Tsotne's protest was caused by beating by the boss of the institution of one of the prisoners.

"On April 30, Director of the institution Georgiy Butliashvili severely beat the inmate Tariel Sakvarelidze. Gamsakhurdia's protest has to do with this fact, and he demands protection of human rights and interference of lawyers and the monitoring group," said the press service of the oppositional movement.

A video clip about this action of Tsotne Gamsakhurdia is already in the Internet, the IA "News-Georgia" reports. The text accompanying the video in Russian also tells that exactly the actions of the prison hospital boss had forced the son of the first Georgia's President to go on his hunger strike.

So far, there are no comments of the prison administration or authorities of Georgia on Tsotne Gamsakhurdia's action.
