Volgograd Mayoralty promises good potable water to Gumrak residents

This May, the mayoralty of Volgograd plans to launch delivery of high-quality potable water to the village of Gumrak, where residents supper from its sharp deficit for several decades.

"Now residents' home receive water from wells, not suitable for drinking by its characteristics," Olga Krasnova, an employee of the press service of Volgograd administration, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Elena Kurysheva, whose mother lives in Gumrak, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the villagers have been long suffering from poor-quality potable water.

"Many of them suffer from urolithiasis," Ms Kurysheva said. "Doctors say that water is the reason. Even filters do not help. In summer, it's just a hell. Water hardly flows. Those who are wealthier - buy water in shops. And what should pensioners and needy families do? We hope that the Mayoralty's initiative will be embodied in concrete steps."
