Rally in support of Fatima Margieva held in Vladikavkaz

On March 8, in North Ossetia, the committee for release of the teacher of the South-Ossetian State University Fatima Margieva held a sanctioned rally. The protesters gathered in the Theatre Square of Vladikavkaz with a demand to stop criminal prosecution of Margieva.

The start of the action was slow: by the announced time - 2 p.m. - only law enforcers, some organizers and a handful of participants could be seen in the square. However gradually, despite the Eighth of March celebrations and cold weather, people started to come.

Larissa Ostaeva, widow of the well-known Ossetian composer Felix Alborov, author of the official anthem of South Ossetia, whose name was awarded to the musical school in Tskhinvali was among the speakers at the event.

"Today, dictatorship reigns in South Ossetia. It's shame and disgrace, when an intelligent woman with children is thrown to prison because of arbitrariness," the "Ossetia-Kwaisa" quotes Ms Ostaeva as saying.

She was supported by Irina Kozaeva, another activist of the first-wave of national-liberation movement of South Ossetia, whose sons with arms in hand defended Tskhinvali. On the women's holiday, women also expressed their support to one more prisoner - Alla Dzhioeva, who once was Minister of Education of the republic.

In conclusion, the organizers thanked everybody for support and assured that public activists of North and South Ossetia will surely get Fatima Margieva's liberation; and all those who, as they assert, fabricated the criminal case against her, will receive their due punishment under the current legislation.

The action organizers and participants plan to hold their next protest on March 20 in Tskhinvali.
