Today, the Armenian Court of Appeal continued consideration of the appeal against to the decision of the court that sentenced four young opposition activists to imprisonment for hooliganism. Prosecutor Akop Martirosyan delivered his speech. The Prosecutor offered to mitigate the sentence for one of the defendants David Kiramidjyan and to replace imprisonment by a conditional sentence.

Yesterday, on October 10, in Makhachkala, two young men were kidnapped. According to eyewitnesses and human rights defenders, about ten men in masks forced young men into a car and drove them away to some unknown destination.

On October 9, in Yerevan, the court has pronounced the decision on the case of beating of journalist Ruben Grdzelyan. The court found Albert Manrikyan, a son of Mesrop Manrikyan, Prosecutor of the Kotaik Region of Armenia, guilty of the incident and fined him 50,000 drams (120 US dollars). The court also decided not to prosecute the journalist because of the absence of elements of crime in his actions.

Yesterday, on October 9, at the trial on the case of the attack on Nalchik in 2005, prosecutors read out materials of examinations, conducted on the complaints of members of the "Shalushka" grouping, who claimed being subjected to physical force during detention and preliminary investigation. Constructors of the Olympic facility form the Research and Industrial Association (RIA) "Mostovik" cordoned off a house, belonging to a Sochi resident, with three-meter monolithic fence with barbed wire and deprived its tenants to leave the house. This was reported by Alexei Kravets, the owner of the house. According to the constructors, they intend to use such a way to achieve eviction of the tenants to be able to demolish the house, which hinder the construction of the Olympic facility, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

About 30 residents of the settlement of Rembaza whom the authorities of Makhachkala had been trying to evict from their houses for already over a year came out on a picket in Kaspiysk - Makhachkala highway demanding to reestablish power, gas and water supply in the settlement. The picket started at 10 in the morning. The participants of the action, mostly women with little children, did not block the highway. They are standing at the roadside with posters: "Official, have a heart!", "Give us light!", "We are going on a hunger strike!".
