Another self-immolation attempt committed in Baku

Today in Baku, a man attempted self-immolation and was hospitalized in grave condition. This is the second self-immolation attempt in Baku this week and the third during this year, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The tragic accident was reported by Gezal Bayramly, Deputy Chair of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), who was an eyewitness, on her Facebook page. According to her story, the man set fire to himself on the side of the road running from the metro station "Khalglar Dostlugu" towards the Yeni Guneshli residential area.

The press service of the local Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has confirmed to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent the above fact and added that the self-killer was identified as Arzu Sultan oglu Alekperov, born in 1967. He was hospitalized. The reasons that had moved the man to take this step are unknown yet, said the MIA.

This is the second self-immolation attempt in Baku this week. Let us remind you that on December 25 Zaur Gasanov, 42, a Category II invalid, a veteran of the military conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh and a father of five children, attempted self-immolation in Baku downtown, opposite the Azerbaijani Trade Unions Confederation (ATUC).
