NAC: persons, killed in Kabardino-Balkaria, were involved in attack on UFSIN staff members

Suspected militants, who were killed on Monday during a special operation in Kabardino-Balkaria, were involved in the murders of two staff members of the Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service (known as UFSIN). This was reported by sources from the law enforcement bodies of the republic.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on Monday morning, a regime of counterterrorist operation (CTO) was introduced in the town of Chegem of Kabardino-Balkaria. A group of suspected militants was blocked in one of the private houses of the town. Three suspected militants were killed after they opened fire in response to the law enforcers' offer to surrender.

It has been also reported that after the law enforcers offered the suspected militants to surrender, a young woman with a minor girl left the house. According to the preliminary information, she used to provide aiding and abetting to the suspected militants. This was reported by the RIA "Novosti" with reference to a source from the law enforcement bodies of the republic.

The persons, who were killed during the special operation in Chegem, including the leader of the armed grouping, were put on the federal wanted list. According to the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), all three of them were involved in armed attacks on law enforcers. So, on December 10, they allegedly killed two officers of the Russian UFSIN for Kabardino-Balkaria.

According to the information from the operational headquarters of the republic, the killed members of the armed underground were plotting to commit terror acts in Kabardino-Balkaria during the New Year holidays, the official website of the NAC reports.
