Criminal case to be opened as "Terrorism" on the fact of explosion in South Ossetia

On the fact of the car explosion in the peacekeepers' headquarters in South Ossetia a criminal case will be initiated under the article of "Terrorism", Mikhail Mindzaev, acting Minister of Internal Affairs of South Ossetia, told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to Mr Mindzaev, seven persons were killed by the explosion and seven more wounded, two of them are in hospital in a grave condition.

We remind you that today at 4:45 p.m. a VAZ car blew up in the territory of the headquarters of the peacekeeping forces in Tskhinvali; the car was parked right near the building housing the managers of the headquarters. The explosion has damaged the building and broke windows in the neighbouring houses up to 500 meters away.

All the casualties were peacekeepers. According to General-Major Marat Kulakhmetov, commander of Russian peacekeepers, today, in the course of prescheduled actions in the Georgian village of Ditsa two model VAZ-2109 cars with 4 civilians in them, presumably Georgians, were detained; the civilians had no documents.

"Fire-arms and two F-1 grenades were found on them. These cars and persons were brought to Tskhinvali. When one of the cars was examined, an explosive, supposedly equal to 20 kg of trotyl equivalent, got triggered and killed 7 peacekeepers," said General-Major.

President of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity has accused the Ministry of State Security (MSS) of Georgia of committing the terror act in Tskhinvali. "The car was stuffed with explosive. It's a targeted terror act prepared by Georgian MSS. The same style that we already know very well," said Mr Kokoity.

We remind you that today in the morning, in the Leningorskiy District of the Republic, near the Georgian village of Kvanchabeti and the Ossetian village of Armaz, an "Ural" model truck was blown up, having presumably run on an explosive. As a result, the driver and passenger received fragmental wounds. One minute prior to the explosion, the place of the incident was bypassed by Anatoly Margiev, head of the Leningorskiy District.
