Danielyan: beatings of journalists evidence that Armenian authorities disregard the PACE resolution

Beating of Grach Melkumyan, acting head of the Yerevan office of Radio Liberty, same as beating of Lusine Barsegyan, journalist of the "Aikakan Zhamanak" newspaper, demonstrate that nothing changes in Armenia, and the authorities pay no attention to the resolution of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).

This was the idea of the comments made by human rights defender Mikael Danielyan, Chairman of the Helsinki Civil Association, to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent on the recent attacks on the journalists of Radio Liberty and "Aikakan Zhamanak" oppositional newspaper.

According to his story, the way towards a military-police looks the most acceptable for the current authorities of the country. The human rights activist has noted that the power in Armenia is illegitimate, adding that without democratic freedoms the power cannot be legitimate.
