Trial on liquidation of "Board of Elders of Balkar People" postponed till December 11 in Kabardino-Balkaria

The trial on liquidation of the public organization named "The Board of Elders of Balkar People" (BEBP), initiated by the public prosecutor of Kabardino-Balkaria, has been reappointed on December 11.

Oyus Gurtuev, Deputy Chair of the BEBP, has informed the "Caucasian Knot" editorial board that the 5-day break was made upon the petition of the Republic's Prosecutor's Office with the aim to gather the required evidences.

The "Caucasian Knot" had informed earlier that on November 10 the Prosecutor's Office of Kabardino-Balkaria suspended the public organization "The Board of Elders of Balkar People" on the basis of the Federal Law "On Counteraction to Extremist Activities".

According to Mr Gurtuev, all the statements that are considered by the Prosecutor's Office to be extremist are in fact quotations from archival documents, which had been used by them at preparation of the analytical report "On Situation of Balkar People", which, according to Oyus Gurtuev, they were preparing for former Plenipotentiary Regional Representative Dmitri Kozak.

According to Mr Gurtuev, the aim of the Prosecutor's Office is "by all possible means to liquidate the only public organization of the Balkar people."
