Over 20 residents of the village of Tsentoroj kidnapped in Chechnya

According to the information obtained from local citizens, during several latest days in the village of Tsentoroj (Chechnya), over 20 persons were kidnapped by armed soldiers in camouflage suits and taken to unknown places. Thus, on April 27, 4 persons were kidnapped in this dwelling settlement. This is the topic of the message of the "Council of Non-Governmental Organizations," that arrived to the editorial board "Caucasian Knot."

On the following day, the employees of unidentified power units who arrived to the village in the cars with tinted glass kidnapped and took away 20 persons, mainly young men who gathered near the mosque after Friday prayer. In doing so, the witnesses assert, the attackers were grasping everybody they could, without any sorting, and forcing into their cars, violently beating those who tried to object. The fighters explained nothing and moved no charges to those detained.

On April 29, in the village of Tsentoroj, unknown persons forced away from his home a local citizen Mokhmad-Salakh Eliskhanov (aged some 60-62). The reasons for holding the actions in the village of Tsentoroj are unknown. The whereabouts and further destiny of the kidnapped residents of the village of Tsentoroj are unknown.

We remind you that Chechnya is visited by a delegation of the European Committee Against Tortures. It became known that on May 1, the delegation of the Committee tried to get into the village of Tsentoroj, however, the security members on duty at the entrance to the settlement would not let the human rights activists into the village.
